CA Foundation eligibility & registration
Exams are conducted three times a year. Registration should typically be completed at least four months before the exam.
Educational Qualification
Indian students: must have completed Class 12 (Senior Secondary) or an equivalent examination from a recognised board or institution.
Students appearing in their Class 12 exams can register provisionally but must clear the exam before appearing for CA Foundation.
Foreign students: must have a qualification equivalent to Class 12, recognised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
Minimum Age
There is no minimum or maximum age limit for enrolling in the CA Foundation course.
Registration with ICAI
Candidates must register with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) for the CA Foundation course — typically at least four months before the exam.
Direct Entry Exceptions
Graduates or post-graduates (Commerce or Non-Commerce) with specified marks, or those qualified in the Intermediate level exams of ICSI / ICMAI, can skip Foundation and register directly for CA Intermediate.

You can register for CA Foundation once you are appearing for Class 12, so most students begin focused CA Foundation coaching after Class 12. Advantages of starting after 12th:
